Directions to the meeting place (Mae Sa Riang District)

Mae Sariang is a district in Mae Hong Son Province, Northern Thailand. There are several ways to travel to Mae Sariang but the most convenient ones are recommended below:

  1. From Bangkok to Mae Sariang: by public bus or private car. The journey would take around 12 hours.
  2. From Chiang Mai to Mae Sariang: Chiang Mai International Airport is the closest airport to Mae Sariang. It offers frequent domestic and direct international flights. The transfer by public bus would take another 3.30-4.30 hours

It is recommended to arrive at Mae Sariang at least one day in advance for preparing yourself and taking a walk around the village.

From Bangkok to Mae Sariang: by public bus

Please visit the local public bus company website https://www.sombattour.com to see its timetable provided for the route Bangkok-Mae Hong Son. The bus ticket can be booked online. To kindly remind, the journey would take around 12 hours and the participants might consider arriving at the meeting point one day in advance.

From Bangkok to Mae Sariang: by private car

From Bangkok: Drive north in the direction of Kamphaeng Phet Province - Tak Province- Lampang Province where the route will take left onto Thoen District- Li District- Hot District- Mae Sariang District.

From Chiang Mai: Drive to Chom Thong District - Hot District- Mae Sariang District

Directions to Chaing Mai (by plane)

Both Bangkok international airports offer flights to Chiang Mai:

  • Don Mueang Airport: frequent domestic flights offered by AirAsia, Nokair, Thai Lionair, among others;
  • Suvarnabhumi Airport: Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways offer many flights a day to Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai International Airport (airport of destination)

Chiang Mai International Airport is used by many international airlines as a final destination and for transit purpose. Participants can easily take a flight to Chiang Mai and transfer to Mae Sariang District by public bus or car rental as above-suggested in details

Directions from Chiangmai to Mae Sariang District  (by public bus)

The local transport company provides vehicle options for the transfer from Chiang Mai to Mae Sariang including minivan, bus and coach. Please visit their website http://premprachatransports.com/ticket-en/ for more information on the full timetable. The journey will take around 3.30 – 4.30 hours depending on the type of vehicle. The purchase of ticket is also available online.

Directions from the bus terminal to the registration desk and hotel  

The hotel and meeting place is located approximately 300-400 meters from the bus terminal. Participants may take the direction on foot as shown on the map below, with help of street signs along the way to the hotel.

Luggage storage facilities

Complimentary luggage storage facilities are available at the registration point. Participants may submit the hiking pass and leave luggages with name tags in the storage room. At the end of the trip, participants will be dropped off at the registration point to retrieve luggages using the hiking pass as identification.
