To participate in Fjallraven Thailand Trail, you can register online at www.ThailandOutdoorshop.com

Registration Fee is 6,000 Baht

During online registration, you can select your start date between January 16th, 17th or 18th. You can also choose these optional during your registration

• Freeze Dry food : This is a package of 10 packs Thai Freeze Dry food that you can pick up before and during the trail - 1,900 Baht

• Rafting: Half day Bamboo Rafting after the hike - 800 Baht


*In case of unexpected circumstances which cost the cancellation of organizing the event. We could only refund the registration fees which is not including the food package and bamboo rafting.


Meeting place – River House Resort

River House Resort in Mae Sariang is the meeting place for Fjällräven Thailand Trail participants. This is where you will receive the equipment included in the registration fee and where your luggage will be held during your fun filled trekking adventures.

At River House Resort you can enjoy a cup of coffee, freshly cooked meal, and shop for some last minute outdoor equipment at the Thailand Outdoor pop-up shop.

We recommend arriving in Mae Sariang at least ONE day before your trekking starts. Mae Sariang is a very lovely small town offering serene views, warm hospitality and great food. More details of River House Resort can be found at their website http://www.riverhousehotelgroup.com


All participants must check-in at the registration booth before the event.

Registration at River House Resort is open :

Wednesday 15th of January : 12:00 – 20:00

Thursday 16th of January : 06:00 – 20:00

Friday 17th of January : 06:00 – 20:00

Saturday 18th of January : 06:00 – 08:00


Hiking Pass

You will receive your Hiking Pass at check-in. The Hiking Pass is a small booklet that you carry during the hike. Your start & finish time will be documented in your Hiking Pass by an official. Your first stamp will be obtained at the starting point and at each checkpoint respectively. Each checkpoint has a fun unique stamp.

A barcode for electronic registration is associated with your Hiking Pass. The code will be scanned at check-in, starting point and finish line respectively.


You will receive one map at check-in. The scale is 1:50 000 and the equidistance of 20 m.

Food and Fuel

At registration you will pick up fuel (gas or petrol). If you request the food option during your ONLINE registration, you will also pick up the first food ration for the event. You may then refill food and only gas (no petrol) at checkpoint Muehakkee (after 35 km).

The food option comprises of freeze-dried Thai meals that you prepare by adding hot water into the package. A variety of delicious meals exist, among them vegetarian alternatives. However, there is no guarantee that all of them will be available when you arrive at Muehakkee.

Two fuel options available at registration are liquified petroleum gas canisters and a petrol dispenser. The gas canisters fit stoves with standard screw threads. If you use petrol you have to bring your own fuel bottle. To reduce waste handling the organiser recommends you to share fuel with other participants during the event.

Fjällräven Trail Trash Bag

At check-in you will receive a nylon bag, which you will use for your trash during the hike.

Safety tag

The day of your trek you will receive a coded signal tag at the starting point. This tag, along with the Hiking Pass, serves to identify a person as a participant of the Fjällräven Thailand Trail. The tag should be attached to the top of your backpack, so that it can be seen both from the front and the rear. The tag is also an aid for attracting attention in the event of an emergency.

Luggage Storage

Your registration fee includes ONE luggage bag storage (maximum 90 litres & 20 kilograms). Luggage that is larger or heavier can be handed in for an extra cost. At the registration booth you will receive a luggage tag with your name and start number, which should be attached to your luggage. You can claim your luggage at the River House Resort when you return to Mae Sariang after trekking.


Transportation to the Starting point

Transfer from River House Resort to Starting Point is included in the registration fee. The transfer takes about one and a half hours. Due to condition of the roads, you will have the added experience of the local trucks with wooden seats. Please do not expect too much comfort ride during the ride.

The trucks depart from River House Resort at:

  • Thursday 16th of January: 08:00
  • Friday 17th of January: 08:00
  • Saturday 18th of January: 08:00

The trucks will leave when they are fully seated. Departure times above are given as earliest departure.

Start Groups

The Fjallraven Thailand Trail has three start times available. The only way to change your start group is to exchange one participant's start group with another in the starting time you desire.

Start group 1:  Thursday 16th of January at 10:30

Start group 2:  Friday 17th of January at 10:30

Start group 3:  Saturday 18th of January at 10:30

Starting Point Registration

At the end of your truck ride you will be welcomed at the Starting Point. All participants must visit the registration booth upon arrival before your start time. Please have your Hiking Pass prepared. The registration opens one hour before your start time. At registration an official will take note of your start time and you will receive your first unique stamp in the Hiking Pass. You will also receive your safety tag to attach to your backpack. After registration you will have ample time to make adjustments to your pack and visit the toilet.


The Route

The route will be marked visibly by signs. The majority of the route runs along the ridge of the mountain.

Two local guides will be trekking with each group of ten participants. For your own safety, please always have your map and compass on hands to ensure you are on the right trail.

The route has no intended difficult or dangerous passages. Be attentive and cautious during and after heavy rainfalls and fog. There is an increase risk of falling due to slippery paths.


The Fjällräven Thailand Trail hike passes three checkpoints between the starting point and Sobkhong. At every checkpoint you will find Fjällräven Thailand Trail station tents that provide 24hr service. It is your responsibility to get your

Hiking Pass stamped by an official. 

In event of an emergency the officials may be away from the checkpoint. In this case the stamp will be placed outside the tent and you will stamp the Hiking Pass yourself. At every checkpoint you can also find a “guest book”. Please provide information on what time you passed the checkpoint. It is also possible to leave and read messages to and from other participants in the book.

Sleeping Accommodations

During the event all sleeping accommodations must be in tents and at designated camping areas. Two or more participants may share a tent. There will be a common shared campfire at each checkpoint. You are not allowed to light a campfire on the grounds outside the designated campfire area.

Waste Handling and NO Littering

You have the responsibility of collecting your trash (except human waste) produced during the hike by using the Fjällräven Thailand Trail Trash Bag. The bag may be disposed and emptied at the finish line in Sobkhong. It is absolutely prohibited to litter or leave waste along the trail, at the checkpoints, or at the village. These facilities may be overloaded when they are utilised by a lot of people.

There will be toilets available at checkpoints and shelters along the trail. If you have to relieve yourself at other places you should bury the feces in the ground or cover them with stones. In addition, burn your toilet paper or take it with you.

Sunrise and sunset

In the middle of January the sunrise is approximately at 06:00 and the sunset at 18:00.


Drinking water will be provided at the checkpoints (for drinking and cooking only). There is NO access to natural streams during the first three days of the hike. It is your responsibility to carry enough water during the day and between checkpoints. Stream water in the area is NOT safe to drink directly. Water filtration IS required. You are recommended to bring a water filter or share one with other participants.

Safety and Medical Care along the Route

In summary, the following applies concerning safety and medical care:

only some parts of the route has cellphone coverage

the majority of the route has no vehicle access

it is recommended to include in your first aid kit the following items: safety pins, butterfly stitches (skin closures), fluid replacement and pain reliever

remember to eat and drink sufficiently to gain enough energy and to avoid headaches

be careful with hygiene when taking care of wounds, use plenty of clean water and soap to rinse wounds or before you are going to drain a blister

contact the checkpoint officials in case of injury or disease. A nurse or a doctor will be present at each checkpoint and at the finish line. They are equipped with a limited amount of first aid products and medications. The staff at each checkpoint may also contact the finish line in Sobkhong in cases related to medical care.

only cases of medical emergency are being documented. Other examinations, certificates and insurance matters, ought to be handled by your regular medical service at home.

the event organiser is not responsible to check the position of every participant along the route, in the case of an incident the participants have to contact the organiser. Generally there will be no organized search for people who have not reached the finish.

Abandon the Hike

If you decide to abandon the hike you still have to walk to Sobkhong or return to the starting point. If you decide to return, please contact an official at a checkpoint or call the contact phone number at +668x-xxx-xxxx.

The organiser will have officials at the starting point the days after start. Participants returning to the starting point must contact the officials. They will arrange transportation back to River House Resort.

Time Limit

Participants are required to reach subsequent checkpoints daily. The total time to hike the entire route is 4 days.


Finish Line

The finish line in Sobkhong has 24hr service.

Fjällräven Thailand Trail Medal

All participants completing Fjällräven Thailand Trail will receive a medal upon reaching the finish line.

Food, Drink and Entertainment 

At the finish you will find the “outdoor pub” that offers food, drinks and local music. This is the natural meeting place for participants in Fjällräven Thailand Trail. Outdoor Pub is open Sunday, January 16th to Tuesday, January 17th, 16:00  – 23:00 pm.


There will be a lottery of prizes Sunday to Thursday night at 21:00 at Trekkers Inn.

Accommodation in Sobkhong

At Sobkhong there will be a common camping site to pitch your tent.

Optional Rafting

If you select “Optional Rafting” during online registration, rafting will start at 8:30 the next day after your hike. The rafting trip is approximately 10 km. and will take approximately 3 - 4 hours. Lunch will be provided. You will be transported

back to River House Resort in Mae Sariang around 6PM.

Transport from Sobkhong

Transfer from Sobkhong to Mae Sariang is included in the registration fee. If you do not join the optional rafting excursion, Fjällräven Thailand Trail will arrange transport from Sobkhong back to Mae Sariang.

The trucks depart Sobkhong at 9:00 the day after your hike and will arrive at Mae Sariang by 13:00. Due to condition of the roads, you will have the added experience of the local trucks with wooden seats. Again, please do not expect much comfort during this ride.


Each participant is required to carry his or her own equipment throughout the trail. Mandatory Equipments are:

Tent* or part in tent alternative waterproof sleep coverage or windsack

Stove* and fuel*

Sleeping bag (not sleeping bag cover)

Water filter


Compass* (magnetic)

Fjällräven Thailand Trail Trash Bag

Long underpants for a dry change

Wind and waterproof jacket with hood

First aid kit* (at least elastic bandage, blister pads, compresses and tape)


Accommodation must be in tents or Hammock during the event.


It is absolutely prohibited to litter or leave waste along the trail, at the checkpoints or at any village. Your trash bag may be emptied and disposed of at the finish line. You should burn your toilet paper or take it with you.


Stamps received in your Hiking Pass from all the checkpoints passed during the course of the event must be presented at the finish.



Breach of the littering rules will result in an immediate disqualification from Fjällräven Thailand Trail and the offender will be prohibited from participation in any future Fjällräven events.

Other Violations of the Rules

The participant will not receive a Fjallraven Thailand Trail medal at the finish line.
